India awaits information on arrests made in Canada over murder of Sikh separatist

India will patiently await information from Canadian authorities regarding the recent arrest of three Indian men charged with the murder of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar noted that the suspects seem to have a background associated with gangs and emphasized the importance of awaiting official details from the police.

The trio, all Indian nationals, was apprehended in Edmonton, Alberta.

Nijjar, a Canadian citizen advocating for Khalistan, was fatally shot outside a Sikh temple in Surrey last year, prompting tensions between Canada and India after Prime Minister Trudeau mentioned potential Indian government involvement.

Canadian authorities hinted at possible further detentions and mentioned collaboration with U.S. law enforcement agencies in their investigation.
