California: The photo-sharing application Instagram has claimed the honour of being the most downloaded app of 2023.
According to data obtained from Sensor Tower, the total number of downloads for Instagram surged by 20% compared to the previous year reaching a staggering 768 million downloads. Meanwhile, TikTok’s downloads reached 733 million after a 4% increase during the same period.
A spokesperson for the company, Ibrahim Yousuf stated that Instagram has consistently adapted to the changing landscape and has positioned itself effectively surpassing TikTok in recent years.
It’s worth noting that the Chinese technology company ByteDance launched the TikTok app in 2016. Later, the company acquired the social media site Musical.ly for $800 million and integrated it into the app. Following this acquisition, TikTok became the most downloaded app in the United States.
