Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander Hossein Salami on Thursday urged leaders of Saudi Arabia to end their reliance on Israel.

According to a report by Iranian Tasnim News Agency, Salami stated, “You are relying on an Israel which is collapsing, and this will be the end of your era.” Salami termed his comments a “warning” to the kingdom’s ruling Al-Saud family.

Earlier on Wednesday, Iran’s top advisor Ali Akbar Velayati stated that Iran and KSA are neighbors and both states must coexist. The embassies of the two countries should reopen to solve our problems in a better way.

In 2021, both Middle Eastern powers tried to normalize their relationship. Baghdad has hosted five rounds of talks so far.

The warning from Tehran came as Saudi Arabia has indicated its support for the so-called Abraham Accords, which established relations of UAE and Bahrain with Israel two years ago. However, Riyadh has not formally recognized neighboring Israel.

Meanwhile, over time, Israel has indicated its willingness to collaborate with new gulf partners.
