Islamabad High Court orders response submission via attorney general in judicial interference case

In the ongoing case concerning alleged judicial interference, the Islamabad High Court has issued a directive for the submission of responses to the accusations through the Attorney General of Pakistan.

Scheduled for a hearing on April 30, the judges of the Islamabad High Court Self-Notice case have signed the order, emphasizing the importance of addressing the claims raised regarding interference in the judiciary.

The Supreme Court’s order, issued in relation to the self-notice case involving six judges of the Islamabad High Court, underscores the need for accountability and transparency within the judicial system.

With responses already submitted by all five High Courts as per the April 3 order, the Supreme Court has also solicited input from the Pakistan Bar Council and the Supreme Court Bar Association, both of which have provided valuable suggestions for consideration.

In response to the order, the Supreme Court Bar Association has pledged to furnish additional recommendations by the next hearing, while several other bar councils and associations seek to join the case as parties. The court has encouraged unanimity among these legal bodies in their submissions, while also allowing for separate proposals should consensus prove unattainable.

Additionally, the Attorney General has been granted the authority to present proposals on behalf of the federation, ensuring comprehensive representation in addressing the allegations against the federal government and its subordinate agencies.
