On May 9, Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman, the Provincial Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), is set to spearhead a protest in Peshawar, condemning election rigging.

Expressing concerns over the provincial government’s performance, Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman highlighted the staggering loan of 500 billion rupees acquired solely for governmental privileges. He raised poignant questions regarding the integrity of institutions involved in the electoral process, questioning who suffered humiliation on May 9.

Despite facing setbacks, he noted that these institutions ultimately bestowed governmental authority upon them.

Addressing the media in Peshawar, Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman emphasized the prevalence of historic election rigging and announced JUI’s decision to stage a protest on May 9 in Peshawar to denounce this egregious violation of democratic principles.

Asserting the support of the people, he vowed to demonstrate the widespread discontent with the current state of affairs. During the press conference, Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman criticized the provincial government for proposing exorbitant sums, such as 2 lakh rupees for ministerial housing rent, amidst prevalent economic hardships.

He lamented the persistence of a narrative crafted through imposition, asserting that the truth behind the events of May 9 must be acknowledged. Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman emphasized that both those who manipulated the electoral mandate and those who imposed their will upon the populace are culpable for undermining the democratic process.
