The matter involving Justice Mazahar Naqvi’s assets in excess of income was brought to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for examination by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
The National Assembly session got underway under the leadership of Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq objected and urged that the PAC be dispatched to look into the matter of Justice Mazahar Ali Naqvi’s holdings outside of his salary.
A lot of fingers are being pointed at the honourable judges, according to Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. He said, “Because of a judge, the judiciary is being misrepresented, the Honorable Judge Mazahar Ali Naqvi should disclose his sources of income and explain how much tax was paid and details of his home.”
He suggested that the situation be looked into by the FBR Accountant General and Auditor General. The federal minister added that although the Bars had also filed referrals about Judge Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi.
The Public Accounts Committee will look into the disproportionate assets case brought by judge Mazahir Ali Naqvi, according to the deputy speaker.
