Khawaja Saad Rafique likely to become PML-N secretary general

Sources have indicated that veteran Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) politician Khawaja Saad Rafique is being considered for the position of the party’s next secretary general.

This proposal is expected to be presented during the general council meeting, with the final decision to be made at that time.

If approved, Rafique would take over from current secretary general, federal minister Ahsan Iqbal, who had previously expressed his desire to step down from the role due to his ministerial duties.

The general council meeting is scheduled for May 11 in Lahore, where Nawaz Sharif is anticipated to be appointed as the party’s president.

This development follows an announcement by PML-N Punjab chapter President Rana Sanaullah that Nawaz Sharif would resume leadership of the party, following his exoneration in various legal cases.
