Khyber Pakhtunkhwa welcomes over 169 million tourists in 2023

    In the year 2023, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa experienced a significant influx of tourists, with a remarkable 169,889,946 individuals exploring its scenic landscapes and vibrant locales, as indicated by a recent report from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Tourism.

    The data, meticulously collected by the World Bank’s Kite Project’s 1422 call center, highlights the substantial increase in tourist numbers from January 1 to December 26, 2023. Among the total count, 4,554 foreign tourists chose to explore the province during this period.

    Galiyat emerged as a popular destination, attracting 6,348 visitors throughout the year, with its natural beauty and charm proving irresistible to travelers. The picturesque Naran and Kaghan valleys recorded an impressive 5,080,000 visitors, while Malam Jabba welcomed 3,549,000 adventure seekers.

    Lesser-explored gems like Deir Bala and Deir Zerin contributed to the diverse experiences offered by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, drawing in 1,380,740 tourists. In Lower Chitral, 591,330 visitors, including 1,624 foreign tourists, explored the region, while Upper Chitral received 791 travelers. Dir Upper and Lower collectively hosted 417 visitors, and Gilat, Malam Jabba, and Naran Kaghan recorded 237, 588, and 897 tourists, respectively.
