KP approves first-ever MEAs implementation action plan

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Climate Change, Forestry Environment, and Wildlife Department have approved the first-ever Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) implementation action plan.

The action plan included one hundred and sixty-seven actions under 15 MEAs.

It also highlighted legislative gap identification, capacity building, regulatory regimes, communication/advocacy, and implementation arrangements.

Multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) action plan also talk about certain things, such as recommendations, actions, timelines, priorities, categories of action, resource allocation, and responsibility.

This action plan followed the KP Climate Change Action Plan 2022.

The MEA’s plan of Action includes the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), Cartagena Protocol on Bio-Safety, Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), Ramsar Convention, Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species (CMS), United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Kyoto Protocol, Vienna Convention and Montreal Protocol, Rotterdam Convention, Basel Convention, Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic pollutants (POPs), and Minamata Convention on Mercury.
