KP Assembly marred by chaos

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Speaker Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani called the assembly session today (Monday) that was adjourned till May 10.

The opposition on Friday submitted a no-trust motion against the chief minister of the province to avoid the dissolution of the assembly but later on Monday, they decided to take back that motion.

After the assurance from the authorities that they would not dissolve the assembly, the opposition parties took back the no-trust resolution filed against Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.

Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Hussain Babak, who belongs to ANP, while speaking to the media, said that they had told the assembly secretariat that they were taking back the no-trust motion.

“The no-trust motion was aimed at countering any bid to dissolve the KP government and now the provincial authorities have assured that they do not have any such plan,” he said.

During the session, a heated debate started between a Pakistan People’s Party lawmaker Nighat Orakzai and Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Anwar Zaib.

Zaib chanted slogans against the PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari against which Nighat Orakzai went to his seat and the argument started, that shortly turned into a scuffle.

In the video circulating on social media, both the parties can be seen exchanging heated words and Nighat Orakzai trying to get hold of Zaib.

CM Mehmood Ali Khan and Minister Atif Khan tried to stop both parties but the situation got out of hand. Later Nighat Orakzai collapsed in the Assembly hall and an ambulance was called to take her to the nearest hospital.

According to the details, her condition is stable for now and she is getting first aid.
