KP ministers receive major increase in housing allowance and perks

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet approved the Ministerial Perks and Salary Amendment Bill on Monday, signaling a significant increase in various allowances.

The most notable change is the large jump in the monthly house rent allowance for cabinet members, from Rs70,000 to Rs200,000.

This big boost aims to ensure that cabinet members can find comfortable housing, showing the government’s focus on their welfare.

With this new rule, cabinet members who don’t have government housing can rent a place for up to Rs200,000 per month, and this includes their utility bills.

The bill also raises the budget for renovating cabinet members’ homes, increasing it from Rs500,000 to Rs1,000,000.

Ministers, advisers, and special assistants will benefit from these changes. The final approval is expected at a future cabinet meeting at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur will chair the meeting, which will cover various topics, including budget plans for this fiscal year and funding for deputy commissioners in tribal districts and the Housing Authority of Nishtarabad Colony in Peshawar.

The meeting will also discuss buying important resources like vehicles for district judges and equipment for government departments to help them run smoothly.

Changes to the Local Government Act 2019 are also on the agenda, showing the government’s broad approach to improving governance and public services.
