Lahore book fair comes to an end

The Lahore International Book Fair (LIBF) wrapped up its 36th annual five-day book fair at the Expo Centre on Sunday after welcoming thousands of bookworms over the course of the event.

LIBF’s Chairman Saleem Malik, Vice Chairman Kashif Mir Zubair, Treasurer Muhammad Faisal, and Coordinator Mian Babur Hameed were the primary organizers of the event.

The book fair, which ran from March 1-5, attracted a wide variety of visitors, including ambassadors from other countries, leaders from the religious, intellectual, social, and literary communities, university students, faculty members from both public and private universities, and many local residents.

Books on history, fiction, politics, regional and foreign languages, and vibrant children’s books were all on display at the 36th LIBF. The expo also featured rare and antiquarian books that can’t be found in stores.

Muhammad Saleem Baig, head of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), opened the event on Wednesday. The PEMRA chairman said thanks to LIBF chairman Saleem Malik and vice chairman Kashif Zubair for their efforts in putting on the book fair.

He said, “Books develop the minds and reading is a valuable skill for acquiring knowledge which transforms society and delivers exhilarating, surprising results for everyone. We must promote books and reading habits among our youth as it will equip them with knowledge and skill to meet the future challenges and lead our beloved country towards prosperity”.

In the past five days, the Lahore Expo center seemed to be a little heaven for book lovers with almost 200 booths of rare and classic books of National and international writers which were available for sale at 40–50% off.
