Lahore High Court unable to hear Khawar Manika’s plea

Today, the Lahore High Court (LHC) encountered a delay in the scheduled hearing of the plea filed by Khawar Manika, the former husband of Bushra Bibi. The proceedings, which were intended to take place within the premises of the LHC on this particular Wednesday, aimed at addressing the matter pertaining to the dismissal of a case related to allegations of corruption.

Regrettably, the anticipated hearing did not come to fruition as Justice Shakeel Ahmed, a key figure in the judicial proceedings, was noted to be on a rest day. Consequently, the legal proceedings surrounding the plea were postponed to a later date.

The essence of Khawar Manika’s plea revolves around challenging the validity of a case filed by anti-corruption authorities, alleging his involvement in the unlawful occupation of certain parcels of land. In his plea, Manika adamantly argued that the accusations leveled against him by the anti-corruption department are unfounded and based on inaccuracies. Hence, he firmly asserts that the case should be promptly dismissed on the grounds of lack of substantiated evidence to support the claims made against him.

Manika’s legal team is awaiting the rescheduled hearing to present their arguments before the court in an attempt to challenge the validity of the case and seek its dismissal based on the factual inaccuracies and lack of substantial evidence provided by the anti-corruption authorities.
