PPP’s opponents were not allowed to cast votes, says Dr. Arbab

Former Sindh chief minister Dr. Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the process of holding the local bodies elections in 14 districts of the province was just an “eyewash and farce”.

He outright rejected the results, which were pouring out from different areas of the desert district. Dr. Arbab alleged that in Tharparkar, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other opponents of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) were not allowed to cast their votes in several hundred polling stations, especially in rural areas.

He said that PPP workers with the support of police had attacked their supporters and even barred them from entering the premises of the polling stations in almost all parts of the district, especially in Diplo, Kaloi, Chhachhro, Dali Nagarparkar and other talukas.

Dr. Arbab said that his son Arbab Inyatullah was “attacked and tortured by the goons of the PPP in Kaloi town” when he reached one of the polling stations on Sunday. The former Sindh CM alleged that ballot papers were not provided at the polling station at several polling stations in the remote villages in time, due to which their supporters could not cast their votes. He said that no sane element would accept such elections.

Advocate Ali Palh, the PTI leader from Tando Allahyar district, also rejected the process of the LB polls and demanded the registration of FIRs against PPP, who, according to him, had killed two of their supporters and injured many voters in Sanghar, Tharparkar, Khairpur and other districts.

He said, “PPP candidates and leaders using police force vandalised polling stations and did not allow PTI workers to cast their votes.”
