LHC restrains ACE from harassing Sheikh Rashid

Former interior minister was due before ACE for his alleged involvement in corruption

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday barred the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) from harassing former interior minister Sheikh Rashid.

Justice Farooq Haider heard the petition filed by Sheikh Rashid, challenging the summons issued by ACE against him.

Justice Haider sought a reply from other parties including ACE on July 27.

During the hearing, Sheikh Rashid’s lawyer took the stance that the land deal in question was done and payment was yet to be made. Sheikh Rashid said that he still had possession of the land as the person who bought the land had to pay 80 percent of the cost.

Sheikh Rashid was due before Anti-Corruption Department today (Friday).

Talking to reporters after the hearing, Sheikh Rashid said they (Sharifs) did not have courage to file a treason case.

He also said that clean and transparent by-polls must be ensured. If Imran Khan gave the call, the result would not be good for anyone, Rashid added.
