Makkah: Eight Pakistani Umrah pilgrims killed in fire at hotel

Eight Pakistani Umrah pilgrims were killed in a fire at a hotel in Makkah, the Foreign Office has confirmed.

The fire broke out on the third floor of the hotel on The Ibrahim Khalil Highway last night. The deceased include men and women from the Kasur and Borewala areas of Pakistan.

The Foreign Office confirmed the deaths and said that eight Pakistani nationals were killed and six were injured in the fire in the hotel.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the incident of fire in the building and prayed for sympathy, condolences, and forgiveness of the deceased and patience for the families of the victims.

Shehbaz Sharif directed the Ministry of Religious Affairs to take the best care of the injured and said that all possible facilities should be provided to the next of kin of the deceased.
