Malala Yousufzai to feature in bolder, sillier new season of ‘We are Lady Parts’

Deadline reports that “We Are Lady Parts,” the British comedy centered around the all-female Muslim punk band Lady Parts, is set to return for a second season on Peacock, starting May 30th, with six new episodes.

Notable guest stars for this season include Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousufzai and British comedian Meera Syal.

Creator Nida Manzoor draws from her own experiences in London’s cultural scene to shape the show, which features a diverse cast led by Anjana Vasan as lead guitarist Amina Hussain and Sarah Kameela Impey as the charismatic front-woman Saira.

The series, which premiered its pilot in 2018 followed by a full season in 2021, delves into themes of friendship, family, and societal expectations.

Manzoor expresses her growth and confidence in creating the show, noting the support of her team and collaborators.

For the second season, she aimed to push boundaries further, exploring deeper character development and creating more original music.

The upcoming season promises to delve into the interior lives of the characters while posing questions about success and the balance between art and commercialism in the music industry.

Manzoor is eager to share the new season with both existing fans and newcomers.

“We Are Lady Parts” is produced by Working Title Television and is available for streaming on Peacock, with all episodes of the first season already available.
