Maria murder case: DNA report reveals no evidence of rape

A DNA report has revealed that Maria, the 23-year-old woman killed by her brother, was not sexually assaulted.

District Police Officer (DPO) Ibadat Nisar stated that the DNA report did not indicate any evidence of sexual assault on Maria. He mentioned that the two brothers of the deceased woman have been accusing each other of assaulting their sister, but these accusations were not substantiated by the DNA report.

The DPO further explained that samples were taken from the main accused, who are the brothers and the father of Maria. He added that the main accused and the father had doubts regarding the character of the victim.

According to the forensic report, the video recording of the incident is authentic, and the police have fulfilled all legal requirements. In March, a horrific incident occurred in Toba Tek Singh, where a man suffocated his sister to death in front of their father and other family members.

In a distressing video obtained by ARY News, the man can be seen suffocating his sister with a pillow, while other family members, including the victim’s sister-in-law, watched the murder unfold without intervening.

Following the murder, the father of both the accused and the victim offered water to the suspect. Initially, the police arrested the main suspect and the father, and later the brother who filmed the incident was also apprehended and charged in connection with the murder case.

Previously, the lawyer representing the accused in Maria’s murder case announced his withdrawal from the case in Toba Tek Singh. Kamran Zafar, the lawyer for Maria’s elder brother, declared that he could not represent such “beasts” before the court as Shahbaz and his wife were misleading.
