Marwat denounces Waqas Akram’s PAC Chairman nomination as “fraud”

Expressing his dissatisfaction on X (formerly Twitter), Marwat asserted that neither PTI Founder Imran Khan nor the decision-making bodies within the party’s top echelons had consulted him or sought his input regarding the appointment.

He stressed that the decision to appoint Akram did not represent any shift from the party leadership’s original position.

“I will meet him tomorrow and inform him about the misrepresentation in his name. I was not notified about the committee meeting nor was it on the agenda,” Marwat declared, highlighting his exclusion from the decision-making process.

Marwat, known for his outspokenness on governance and party matters, reiterated the significance of transparency and democratic principles within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), asserting that the party should not be subject to arbitrary decisions resembling a “Rajwara” (monarchy). He pledged to take necessary measures to prevent any attempts to “hijack” the party’s democratic processes.

Earlier, the PTI had chosen Sheikh Waqas Akram as its nominee for the pivotal chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee. PTI spokesperson Rauf Hassan stated that the final announcement would be made after further consultations with the party leadership.

In response to the development, Akram posted on his X account expressing gratitude to PTI founder chairman Imran Khan and the party leadership.
