Maryam starts free home-delivery service for essential medicines

Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, has started a major project to deliver free medicines to 200,000 patients in the province. This public welfare initiative aims to bring essential medications directly to people’s homes.

Maryam announced the program at a ceremony, highlighting its focus on providing free treatments for diseases like hepatitis, tuberculosis, and heart conditions. She said the goal is to make sure that people can get the medicine they need without any cost.

“The public welfare project was launched quickly. Now, 200,000 patients will get free medicines for diseases like hepatitis and TB delivered to their homes,” she explained.

Maryam expressed her personal dedication to the project by saying, “I will personally deliver some of these medicines.” She also mentioned that free medications for heart disease would be part of this initiative.

To ensure the ongoing supply of medicines, she said they would keep a steady stock for continued distribution. She added that in five years, no one in Punjab would lack medical care. She also noted the opening of 32 field hospitals to serve the public.

Additionally, Maryam revealed plans to deploy 200 mobile clinics to offer healthcare in rural areas. She stressed the importance of public welfare and criticized past governments for neglecting healthcare services. She said politics should be about serving people and condemned those who try to undermine the progress made by her administration.

Maryam praised her party, PML-N, for starting meaningful projects but pointed out that chaos and instability have set the country back by decades. She criticized her political opponents, accusing them of stopping free medicine programs over the past five years. She committed to building a modern hospital in every district in Punjab.

While discussing the country’s direction, Maryam spoke about the harm caused by backward policies and emphasized the need to continue programs that help communities and ensure fair access to healthcare.

Later, Maryam personally delivered free medicines to patients’ homes. She visited Rasoolan Bibi, an elderly patient, by walking through the narrow alleys of Shadman Katchi Abadi. When the patient saw her, she was overwhelmed with emotion. Maryam sat with her on the bed and asked about her health.

She also went to another patient’s house in the same area, giving him medicines and a kind word of support.
