Match officials revealed for T20 World Cup 2024

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled a roster of 26 Match Officials set to oversee the initial round of matches in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to commence on 1 June in the West Indies and the USA.

This esteemed group comprises 20 umpires and six match referees who will preside over the ninth edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup.

Notably, this tournament marks the first occasion where 20 teams will compete, engaging in a total of 55 matches across 28 days at nine venues, rendering it the most extensive ICC T20 World Cup thus far.

Among the distinguished umpires is Richard Illingworth, the recipient of last year’s David Shepherd Trophy for ICC Umpire of the Year.

He is joined by renowned officials such as Kumar Dharmasena, Chris Gaffaney, and Paul Reiffel, all of whom officiated in the Final of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 between England and Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The match referees’ panel features notable figures including Ranjan Madugalle, who oversaw the 2022 Final, and Jeff Crowe, the format’s most seasoned referee.

Crowe holds the distinction of officiating in the highest number of T20Is, with 175 appearances, while Andrew Pycroft, another esteemed member, is on the cusp of reaching the milestone of 150 T20Is.

Wasim Khan, ICC General Manager Cricket, expressed satisfaction with the selection of Match Officials for this historic event, noting the presence of experienced individuals alongside emerging talents.

He emphasized the significance of the pathway program in nurturing high-quality officials across the cricketing landscape.

With the tournament boasting 20 teams and 55 matches spread over 28 days, it promises to be the most momentous T20 World Cup to date.

The ICC is confident in the capabilities of the appointed officials and extends its best wishes for what is anticipated to be an enthralling competition.

The Match Officials for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 encompass a diverse array of umpires, including Chris Brown, Michael Gough, Adrian Holdstock, Allahudien Paleker, Richard Kettleborough, and many others.

The match referee contingent comprises David Boon, Richie Richardson, Javagal Srinath, and others, ensuring that the tournament is overseen by a competent and esteemed panel of officials.
