Matthews ends Pakistan tour with another match-winning knock

In a commanding performance, West Indies Women secured an eight-wicket victory in the fifth T20I, led by another stellar innings from captain Hayley Matthews, sealing the series with a convincing 4-1 margin.

The match, held at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, saw West Indies chasing down the 135-run target with ease.

The opening batter Rashada Williams (16, 11b, 3x4s) fell to Sadia Iqbal in the fifth over, but Matthews found a strong partner in Shemaine Campbelle (33 not out, 35b, 2x4s), as they built a formidable 103-run partnership for the second wicket.

Matthews, registering her third half-century of the series, scored 78 runs off 59 balls with 11 boundaries before being dismissed by Nashra Sundhu.

Sadia and Nashra claimed one wicket each for Pakistan.

Earlier, Pakistan, batting first, managed to score 134-8 in their 20 overs.

The opening pair contributed 38 runs in five overs before Ayesha Zafar (22, 16b, 4x4s) was dismissed by Qiana Joseph.

Muneeba Ali’s quickfire 25 off 19 balls, including three fours, propelled the innings, making her the fourth Pakistan Women player to reach 1,000 T20I runs.

However, Pakistan’s middle order struggled, with Nida Dar, Gull Feroza, Natalia Parvaiz, and Najiha Alvi all registering single-digit scores.

Sidra Amin top-scored with 48 off 52 balls before falling in the penultimate over.

Rameen Shamim contributed an unbeaten 16 off 11 balls.

Afy Fletcher led the bowling attack for West Indies, claiming three wickets, while Qiana Joseph and Aaliyah Alleyne took two and one wicket respectively.
