Maulana Fazlur Rehman stands firm, ready to brave threats and incarceration for cause

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI), declared during a rally that they refuse to succumb to threats aimed at quelling their movement against electoral ‘rigging’.

Asserting their commitment to the people’s mandate, he emphasized their preparedness to face imprisonment rather than silence their dissent. Addressing the rally in Peshawar, Maulana Fazlur Rehman underscored the need for security forces to withdraw from tribal areas, urging an end to benevolent gestures under the guise of operations.

He staunchly opposed the military operation in tribal regions, maintaining that the populace remains insecure despite its implementation. Reflecting on past decisions, he reiterated his skepticism regarding the FATA merger, pointing out the unfulfilled promises of financial support. Maulana Fazlur Rehman condemned attempts to intimidate their movement, asserting their right to voice concerns and participate in politics without coercion.

He rallied supporters, emphasizing the importance of upholding Pakistan’s integrity and rejecting fraudulent electoral outcomes. The JUI chief announced plans for a public march in Muzaffargarh, vowing to challenge the legitimacy of the February 8th election results.
