Two days before Eid-ul-Fitr, a car that ran over a mother and her 8-year-old child in Gulshan Iqbal Block 7 was found parked the farmhouse of former SSP and current PPP Member of Provincial Assembly Farooq Awan in Memongoth, Gulshan Iqbal, Karachi.

The child, injured in the accident, died on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, while the woman remains in critical condition and is in a coma.

On April 8, 2024, a woman named Nooriya Bibi, wife of Syed Muhammad Agha, and her 8-year-old son, Syed Yusuf Agha, were injured when a speeding car hit them near a foreign fast-food restaurant on Allama Shabir Usmani Road within the Gulshan Iqbal Police Station jurisdiction. The driver responsible fled from the scene along with the vehicle.

After obtaining CCTV footage of the accident, Syed Ahmadullah, the brother-in-law of the injured woman, registered case No. 235/24 under section 337G at Gulshan Iqbal police station on April 9.

Syed Ahmadullah, the plaintiff in the case, stated in his statement that he resides in House No. E-97 Agha House, Block 7, Gulshan Iqbal, and is involved in his own business. Nooriya Bibi and Syed Yusuf Agha were crossing the road from Road Block 7 Gulshan Iqbal when a silver-colored Mercedes with vehicle No. AX-695, driven negligently by the driver, hit them while they were crossing the road, resulting in injuries. They were immediately taken to the hospital.

Syed Yusuf succumbed to his injuries in a private hospital on the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr, while Nooriya Bibi remains in critical condition and in a coma.

On Sunday, Inspector Sarfraz of Gulshan Iqbal Investigation Police, along with a police party, raided a farmhouse in Memon Goth area and recovered the Mercedes.

The farmhouse employees promptly informed the owner, Farooq Awan, former SSP and current Member of the Provincial Assembly, about the police raid. Farooq Awan stated that the vehicle was parked at his farmhouse without his knowledge. He mentioned that his friend, Zahid Awan, is involved in buying and selling vehicles in Japan, and the cars were parked at his farmhouse. Farooq Awan clarified that he learned about the incident when the police raided the farmhouse.

The driver responsible for the accident, Farqan, has not been arrested yet. The police party also raided Zahid Awan’s house in Gulshan Iqbal Block 7, but he was not present. Police sources indicate that Zahid Awan, a relative of the former SSP, has been sent to a secret location to avoid arrest.
