Met office predicts temperature surge followed by weekend rainfall across Pakistan

The Meteorological Office has forecasted a surge in day temperatures across Pakistan, particularly in the southern regions, attributed to a high-pressure system prevailing in the upper atmosphere.

Additionally, a westerly wave is expected to enter the western parts of the country by May 10, gradually affecting the upper regions by May 11. As a result of this weather phenomenon, various regions of Pakistan are anticipated to experience deviations in weather patterns.

In Punjab and Islamabad, day temperatures are projected to rise by 3-5°C above normal from May 8 to May 10, accompanied by rain, dust storms, and thunderstorms in several districts from May 10 night to May 12.

Similarly, Balochistan is likely to witness above-normal temperatures during the same period, coupled with rain, dust storms, and thunderstorms in specific areas. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan/Kashmir regions are also expected to encounter temperature anomalies and precipitation events from May 10 night to May 12 morning.

Furthermore, Sindh is forecasted to experience elevated day temperatures from May 8 to May 10, with dust-thunderstorm and rain expected in certain districts on May 10 night and May 11.

In light of these weather predictions, farmers are advised to adjust crop watering and wheat harvesting schedules accordingly, while the general public is cautioned to minimize direct exposure to sunlight.
