Milk prices to increase in next week

According to recent reports, citizens in Karachi, already grappling with inflation, might face further hardship with a potential increase of Rs 50 per liter in milk prices.

Mubasher Qadeer Abbasi, President of Dairy Farmers Karachi, cited rising production costs and cattle prices, along with government inaction, as reasons for this expected hike.

Abbasi urged the Karachi Commissioner to swiftly issue a notification aligning milk prices with production costs. He warned that if no action is taken by May 10, stakeholders might raise prices independently.

Meanwhile, the latest data from the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) showed a one percent decrease in weekly inflation for combined consumption groups, with some fluctuations in prices of various essential items compared to the previous week and year.
