What is Miss Pakistan World Pageant?

Miss Pakistan World is a renowned beauty pageant dedicated to women of Pakistani heritage worldwide. Established in 2002 by Sonia Ahmed as Miss Canada Pakistan, the event initially took place in Toronto, Canada, due to security concerns and public attitudes toward pageantry in Pakistan. With exceptions like the 2014 event held in New Jersey, the pageant remained rooted in Canada until 2020.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the pageant made a significant move to Lahore, Pakistan, for its 2020 edition. Areej Chaudhary became the first winner crowned on Pakistani soil in August 2020, marking a historic moment for the pageant.

Expanding its inclusivity, Miss Pakistan World introduced a separate pageant, Miss Trans Pakistan, in May 2021, allowing transgender women to participate. Shyraa Roy made history as the inaugural winner of Miss Trans Pakistan 2021.

In January 2022, the pageant underwent further evolution with the introduction of new titles like Miss Pakistan Universal, Miss Pakistan Supreme, and others. Dr. Shafaq Akhtar, the first Christian contestant, clinched the Miss Pakistan Universal title in Lahore and represented Pakistan in international pageants, achieving notable success.

The pageant continued its trailblazing journey in 2023, crowning Alina Khan as the next transgender titleholder in Pakistan and Dr. Kapotaqkhy Chanchala, a Pakistani of Bangladeshi descent, as Miss Pakistan Universal 2023. Dr. Chanchala represented Pakistan in international pageants, enhancing the country’s presence on the global stage.
