NAB impostors apprehended, handed over to police

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore on Thursday arrested two suspects impersonating ‘NAB deputy director general’ and ‘personal assistant (PA) to NAB director’ during an intelligence-based operation and handed them over to the police.

According to a spokesman for NAB, the suspects had been identified as Muhammad Arshad and Ghulam Rasool. The spokesman said that action was taken against the accused after they tried to enter NAB District Jail Kasur by impersonating deputy director and PA to director.

The suspects intended to meet the DPO and the Kasur deputy commissioner in order to gain access to the district jail. NAB Lahore responded immediately and arrested both the accused on the spot before handing them over to police. Proceedings have also been initiated against them under sections 186, 170 and 171 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

NAB Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal had issued clear instructions that no NAB officer would contact anyone via phone.

The NAB had arrested several impostors in the past as well.
