Naqvi directs accelerating action against over-billing, power theft

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued directives to bolster efforts in combating overbilling and electricity theft. In a meeting convened at the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore Zonal Office, chaired by Minister Naqvi, the progress in tackling overbilling and apprehending electricity thieves was thoroughly evaluated.

Stating the importance of accountability, Minister Naqvi instructed for the relentless pursuit of officers responsible for imposing undue financial burdens on citizens through overbilling. He reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding overbilling, stressing the need to prioritize relief for electricity consumers.

Expressing concern over the plight of citizens affected by the incompetence and negligence of distribution companies (DISCOs), Minister Naqvi underscored the imperative of alleviating the burden of overbilling on consumers.

Furthermore, Minister Naqvi directed for the continuation of crackdowns against electricity theft, extending the mandate to include government personnel found complicit in such illegal activities. Indiscriminate actions against all perpetrators involved in electricity theft were deemed essential to uphold the rule of law and ensure a fair and just energy distribution system.
