Naseem Shah backs Mohammad Amir’s return for T20 World Cup

Pakistan’s right-arm fast bowler Naseem Shah expressed his support for fellow pacer Mohammad Amir as he makes his return to international cricket ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Speaking to the media during the team’s training session for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England, Naseem highlighted Amir’s valuable experience gained from playing in T20 leagues worldwide, emphasizing its positive impact on the team.

“We welcome any player who contributes positively to Pakistan’s performance. Amir’s experience from playing in various leagues is proving to be beneficial for the team,” Naseem remarked.

The young pacer stressed the importance of performing consistently well against all teams in the World Cup, rather than focusing solely on winning against traditional rivals like India.

“We need to maintain top-notch cricket throughout the entire World Cup. Facing strong opponents motivates us to strive harder for victory, as every team in the tournament poses a challenge,” he emphasized.

Naseem Shah also expressed his eagerness for the cricket extravaganza and reiterated his commitment to helping Pakistan secure the title.

“I’m fully fit and prepared for the World Cup. My aim is to contribute towards our team’s success in winning the tournament,” he affirmed.

Currently, the Pakistan men’s cricket team is engaged in a three-match training session ahead of their three-match T20I series against Ireland.

The matches will take place at Clontarf in Dublin on 10th, 12th, and 14th May 2024, starting at 3 PM local time.

These matches, along with the subsequent four T20Is in England, will serve as crucial preparations for Pakistan’s campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the United States.

The Pakistan squad for the Ireland and England T20Is includes Babar Azam (c), Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Rizwan, Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Salman Agha, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, and Usman Khan.
