NEPRA announces further increase in electricity prices

Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a further increase in electricity prices.

According to NEPRA, due to continuous decrease in electricity demand, there may be a further increase in prices in the upcoming quarterly adjustment.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority stated that there was an overall 12% decrease in electricity demand by February and due to the continuous decrease in demand, there is a possibility of an increase in prices in the quarterly adjustment.

NEPRA has stated that the Ministry of Energy and CPPA-G should propose an end to the cessation of load shedding on commercial grounds. The current 60% capacity payments in electricity tariffs are much higher than international standards.
