No statement can affect democratic process, FO responds to Zalmay’s tweet

Pakistan has said that no one’s statements could mislead the Pakistani people.

Responding to the statements of US Special Representative Zalmay Khalilzad, Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Pakistan is a democratic country.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said that no one’s statements could mislead the people of Pakistan, Pakistan is a confident country, no interference and statements from abroad can affect the democratic process.

The spokesperson also said that she did not understand why the Government of Pakistan should respond to the individual statements of an individual.

US special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Zalmay Khalilzad had said in his statement on the social networking site Twitter that it seemed that efforts will be made to stop the election and ban the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), apparently the government has decided to declare Imran Khan as an enemy of the state, such steps will make Pakistan more vulnerable to crises.

Zalmay Khalilzad said that Pakistan is facing political, economic and security crises, some countries have also suspended planned investment in Pakistan.

The US Special Representative had said that if the current government’s actions continue, Pakistan will suffer more, hostility and violence will increase, hopefully Pakistan’s political leaders will raise themselves with narrow-mindedness.
