Nourishing the soul in Ramazan

As Muslims, we want to be spiritually uplifted, and the holy month of Ramzan is the best way to get uplifted. Allah bless us with this month, so we can get some sort of peace by changing our schedule.

Waking up early in the morning has its significant benefits, and along with this, we start our day with namaz and the Quran. Starting the day with the name of Allah is the most precious thing ever, but this is just the beautiful start of the day. After that, we all made our sehri.

According to science, you need to give your stomach a break. There should be a one-hour gap between waking up and having breakfast. The start of the day is just wonderful. The sunshine maintains our hormones in the best way. The mixed advantages to the human body are amazing.

The Sunnah helped us to recover our bodies spiritually, physically, and emotionally. Later on, we work hard and keep going. In the second half of the day, we took a cat nap, which helped us recover because we experienced resilience and patience,  which helped us be active. The more we strengthen our bodies and do work, the more we become resilient.

Intermittent fasting entails periods during the day or days where food intake is either restricted significantly or abstained entirely, alternating with periods of normal eating.Preliminary findings indicate that intermittent fasting could enhance gut health, primarily by augmenting the diversity of the gut microbiome and fostering the proliferation of beneficial gut bacteria.

Certain foods may contribute to improved gut health and provide support during fasting intervals within intermittent fasting regimens. These include fermented foods rich in probiotics, as well as plant-based foods and whole grains, particularly those containing prebiotics that serve as nourishment for gut bacteria.Beyond its historical, religious, and cultural importance, fasting has drawn interest due to its health advantages.

An important benefit is that it helps control eating habits. People who set aside specific times for eating and fasting might create a regimented schedule that is in sync with their biological clocks. This synchronisation helps people maintain regular mealtimes and refrain from impulsive eating habits, which in turn fosters a better connection with food.

Furthermore, the discipline of fasting cultivates consciousness regarding food choices, urging people to choose their meals more thoughtfully and at the appropriate times. In addition, the maintenance of a regular eating schedule made possible by fasting enhances general wellbeing. Meal times that are consistent promote metabolic health by maximising food absorption and digestion.

According to research, eating meals on a regular basis may aid in weight management and blood sugar regulation, reducing the risk of metabolic disorders such as diabetes and obesity. Additionally, aligning eating habits with biological rhythms promotes better sleep quality and energy levels throughout the day, enhancing overall productivity and vitality.

Thus, fasting not only helps individuals stay on track with their dietary patterns but also fosters a holistic approach to health and wellness. We should incorporate the admirable practices observed during Ramadan into our daily lives as a means of prioritising our well-being and longevity. It is essential to adopt these beneficial habits beyond the month of Ramadan to ensure the continuous care of our health and overall quality of life.
