Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar said on Monday that the Punjab government was working on the restoration of historic buildings through the Walled City Authority, along with developing new attractions to promote tourism in the province.
In a tweet to mark the International Day of Tourism, Buzdar said, “After the restoration of Lahore Fort, renovation work of projects like Tomb of Mir Chakar e Azam Rind and Satghara Fort is also in the process of completion.”

The historical places that have been renovated so far included Barood Khana, Naulakha Pavilion, Gali Surjan Singh and Southern Side Houses.

The CM also shared a video that featured the restoration process of Naulakha Pavilion at Lahore Fort.

International Day of Tourism has been observed every year on September 27, a date chosen by United Nation World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 1980. ‘Tourism for inclusive growth’ was the theme of the day this year, as a pledge that nobody be left behind as the world reopened again after being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tourism has been a point of policy focus for the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) since they came to power. Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has said on numerous occasions that tourism could the pull country out of financial crisis.
