Pakistan and Sweden, strengthening trade and investment ties

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar welcomed Ambassador Georg Steiner of Switzerland for a courtesy visit on Thursday, highlighting Pakistan’s keen interest in bolstering its relationship with Switzerland.

Stressing the potential for collaboration, particularly in trade and investment, climate initiatives, tourism, and migration, Dar underscored the significance of expanding bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

Expressing gratitude for the presence of Swiss companies operating in Pakistan, Dar extended an invitation for more Swiss enterprises to invest in the country, with a specific focus on sectors such as renewable energy and information technology.

He pointed to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Disaster Management signed between Pakistan and Switzerland last year, expressing optimism that it would facilitate enhanced collaboration, leveraging technology and expertise to effectively address natural disasters in the future.

During the discussion, regional dynamics and multilateral issues were also deliberated upon. Dar commended Switzerland’s active role in the multilateral arena and applauded the nation’s contributions to humanitarian and peace-building endeavors.
