Pakistan firmly rejected 2023 country report on Human rights practices by US State Dept

In a press release issued on Thursday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that the report’s contents are unjust, based on inaccurate information, and disconnected from the realities on the ground.

She criticized the annual practice of the US State Department in preparing such reports, labeling them as lacking objectivity and flawed in methodology. Baloch argued that these reports utilize a biased lens to assess human rights in other countries, primarily driven by political motivations.

Baloch expressed deep concern over the report’s failure to address urgent human rights violations, particularly in regions such as Gaza and Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

She accused the report of ignoring critical issues such as the ongoing genocide in Gaza, highlighting a discrepancy in the international human rights discourse.

Furthermore, Baloch emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its own human rights framework and engaging constructively in the international human rights agenda.

She called on the US State Department to exercise diligence, objectivity, and responsibility in preparing such reports, urging them to play a constructive role in addressing human rights violations worldwide.
