Pakistan, Gambia agree to deepen bilateral cooperation

Pakistan and The Gambia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen high-level dialogue and cooperation across various sectors including trade, agriculture, education, and tourism.

This understanding was reached during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad of The Gambia, Dr. Mamadou Tangara, on the sidelines of the 15th OIC Islamic Summit in Banjul.

During the meeting, the two leaders also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Bilateral Political Consultations, aimed at fostering regular dialogue and engagement between the two foreign ministries to bolster mutually beneficial relations.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar commended the strong ties between the two countries, underpinned by religious affinities, mutual trust, and shared values.

He also extended congratulations to the Government of The Gambia for successfully hosting the 15th OIC Islamic Summit.

The discussions between the two leaders encompassed various aspects of bilateral relations, with a shared commitment to further enhancing dialogue and cooperation in areas such as trade, agriculture, education, and tourism.

They also explored opportunities for collaboration in multilateral forums, including the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Pakistan and The Gambia maintain cordial bilateral ties and continue to engage on political, economic, and multilateral issues.
