Pakistan, Iran agree on joint efforts to eradicate terrorism

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi met at the PM House on Monday, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in combating regional terrorism.

Their discussions covered various aspects of enhancing Iran-Pakistan ties, emphasizing the importance of closer cooperation between the two nations. They explored ways to boost trade, improve communication networks, and deepen economic collaboration.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the significance of President Raisi’s visit, noting it as the first by a head of state following Pakistan’s February 2024 general elections, a gesture warmly received by the Pakistani people.

President Raisi received a guard of honor upon his arrival at the PM House, symbolizing the warm reception extended by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and his team.

Accompanied by ministers and businessmen, President Raisi’s three-day official visit underscores the depth of bilateral engagement between Pakistan and Iran.

During his visit, President Raisi is set to meet with the President, Prime Minister, Senate Chairman, National Assembly Speaker, and provincial leadership in Lahore and Karachi, demonstrating the comprehensive nature of his engagement with Pakistan.

The agenda includes discussions on regional and global developments, with a focus on enhancing Pakistan-Iran ties across various sectors such as trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, and promoting people-to-people contacts.
