Pakistan prepares for heavy downpour, snowfall in various regions

Intermittent rains continue across Pakistan, with heavy downpours expected in various regions like the Potohar area, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.

The Met Department in Islamabad predicts possible snowfall in the northern mountains.

In Islamabad and nearby areas, there will be partly cloudy skies, heavy rain, and strong winds. Kurram and Waziristan might see rain with strong winds and thunder.

There’s also a chance of rain in Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, and Sialkot. Balochistan might have light rain with thunder in Zhob, Musakhel, and nearby areas.

However, most parts of Sindh are expected to stay dry.

Sadly, the bad weather has caused casualties and destruction in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), 46 people have died, and 60 others are injured in accidents across different districts.

Among the victims are 25 children and nine women. Additionally, 436 houses are completely destroyed, and 2,439 have partial damage due to rains and floods. Livestock has also been affected, with 309 animals reported killed.

The flood situation in KP is serious, affecting many districts like Khyber, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Mansehra, Malakand, Tank, Mardan, Peshawar, Charsadda, and Nowshera. The PDMA is working to help affected communities and reduce further damage.

Authorities are advising citizens to be cautious and take necessary precautions for their safety. Emergency response teams are ready to handle any worsening situations.
