Pakistan, Saudi Arabia reaffirm to strengthen economic relations

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia affirmed their commitment to bolstering economic and investment ties between the two nations.

This commitment was voiced during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and a Saudi delegation, led by Advisor at the Royal Court and General Secretary of Saudi-Pak Supreme Coordination Council, Mohammed bin Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, in Riyadh on Saturday.

The discussions revolved around mutual interests and exploring avenues for enhancing business relations. The primary focus was on facilitating and promoting Saudi investments in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was thoroughly briefed on Saudi government reform objectives during the meeting.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s interest in leveraging Saudi Arabia’s successful reform policies to modernize Pakistan’s governance structure.

He affirmed the longstanding fraternal ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, which continue to strengthen. He noted the advancement of economic relations between the two countries into a new phase.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted significant progress made during the visit of the Saudi Foreign Minister’s delegation to Pakistan, particularly in various investment areas.

He conveyed Pakistan’s profound respect and admiration for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, expressing gratitude for the warm reception extended by the Saudi Crown Prince and the Prime Minister.

Mohammed bin Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri and his delegation expressed Saudi Arabia’s keen interest in boosting investment in Pakistan on behalf of the Saudi government and companies. They emphasized the commencement of priority initiatives following the Saudi Foreign Minister’s delegation visit to Pakistan.

Mohammed bin Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, associated with Saudi Vision 2030, briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the vision, assuring assistance in training Pakistani workforce and government officials under Vision 2023. Saudi Arabia aims for bilateral economic relations to align with Saudi Vision 2030.

The meeting was attended by various high-ranking officials, including Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Saudi Arabia coincided with his participation in a two-day special meeting of the World Economic Forum on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development in Riyadh. He was received by Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Waleed Al Khareeji and Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, among others.

During the WEF meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is anticipated to engage in bilateral discussions with global leaders and heads of world bodies. This visit marks his return to Saudi Arabia during his tenure as Prime Minister.
