Pakistan’s remittances hit $2.8bn in April

According to a recent announcement by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the inflow of remittances from overseas Pakistanis totaled a substantial $2.8 billion in the month of April. This figure marks a significant increase, with workers’ remittances surging by 28 percent compared to April of the previous year.

Further elaborating on the trend, the Central Bank of Pakistan disclosed that during the initial ten months of the ongoing financial year, Pakistani expatriates have sent an impressive sum of $23.8 billion back to their home country. This substantial amount underscores the vital role played by overseas workers in contributing to Pakistan’s economy.

Highlighting the continuous growth trajectory, the SBP stated that the remittance inflows for this fiscal year have demonstrated a noteworthy three percent increase compared to the corresponding period of the preceding financial year. This steady rise in remittances reflects the resilience and dedication of the Pakistani diaspora in supporting their families and homeland amidst global economic challenges.
