Paris apartment of fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld sells for $10.8m at auction

The late fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld’s futuristic Parisian apartment was recently sold at auction for 10 million euros ($10.8 million), doubling its guide price.

Situated in a historic building on Quai Voltaire, the three-room residence boasts stunning views of the Seine River and the Louvre Museum.

Lagerfeld, known for his innovative designs, lived in the 260-square-meter apartment for around a decade until his passing in 2019.

Renovated by Lagerfeld himself, the space features a 50-square-meter dressing room and modern touches like concrete floors and sandblasted glass sections.

Lagerfeld’s former office and library have been transformed into a public bookshop and event venue in Paris’s Latin Quarter.

A biographical series about Lagerfeld’s life, titled ‘Becoming Karl Lagerfeld,’ is set to premiere on Disney+ in June, starring Daniel Bruhl.

Bruhl, who portrays Lagerfeld in the series, spoke of his attempt to capture Lagerfeld’s impeccable aesthetic tastes, acknowledging the challenge of matching Lagerfeld’s perfectionism in aesthetics.
