PCB chief Naqvi invites players for lunch

On Sunday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi made the decision to treat members of the Pakistan cricket team to lunch as a means of boosting their morale ahead of the T20 World Cup.

According to sources, Naqvi plans to host a lunch for the players today, following the conclusion of their second day of practice sessions in preparation for the upcoming Ireland and England series.

Naqvi extended the invitation to the players personally.

Notably, Naqvi recently appointed former South African cricketer Gary Kirsten as the white-ball coach for the Pakistan national cricket team.

During a press conference attended by PCB COO Salman Naseer and former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood, Naqvi also announced the appointment of former Australian cricketer Jason Gillespie as the red-ball coach for Pakistan, with Mahmood serving as Pakistan’s assistant coach.

Addressing the media, Naqvi emphasized Kirsten’s forthcoming involvement during the England tour and hinted at an imminent announcement regarding the coach for the Pakistan women’s team.

Naqvi further highlighted the importance of unity within the team, stating that differences only exacerbate problems.

He underscored the PCB’s commitment to investing in cricket infrastructure, acknowledging the need to address issues at various stadiums, particularly noting the poor condition of the Karachi stadium.

Regarding fast bowler Ihsanullah, Naqvi mentioned awaiting a medical report and expressed concerns about the quality of his treatment, promising accountability for any mishandling of the situation.
