PCB confirm South Africa tour details

The Pakistan Cricket Board has unveiled the itinerary for its upcoming tour to South Africa, featuring a schedule packed with three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests set to take place in the latter half of 2024.

The T20Is will kick off the action in Durban, Centurion, and Johannesburg from 10th to 14th December.

Following this, the ODIs are scheduled to be held from 17th to 22nd December in Paarl, Cape Town, and Johannesburg.

The tour will culminate with two ICC World Test Championship matches, slated for 26th-30th December in Centurion and 3rd-7th January in Cape Town.

The team is slated to depart for Durban on 2nd December after wrapping up their series in Australia on 19th November.

Upon completion of their African tour on 8th January, the national side will engage in a three-nation ODI tournament at home against New Zealand and South Africa, followed by the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan, featuring eight teams.

Preceding their tours of Australia and South Africa, Pakistan will host Bangladesh and England for two and three Tests, respectively.

This jam-packed schedule will see Pakistan in action for a total of seven Tests, at least 10 ODIs, and six T20Is from August 2024 to January 2025.

The upcoming tour to South Africa marks Pakistan’s seventh Test tour to the nation since 1994-95. Notable victories include their wins in the 1997-98 and 2006-2007 series. Noteworthy performances include Azhar Mahmood and Saeed Anwar’s centuries in the 1997-98 Durban Test, and Inzamam-ul-Haq’s heroics in the 2006-2007 Port Elizabeth Test.

In ODIs, Pakistan has had success in two of the last three series, while South Africa has dominated in previous encounters. In T20Is, Pakistan holds a slight edge with six wins out of twelve encounters.
