PCB eyes Peshawar for PSL 9 opening

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced its desire to host the opening match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Peshawar, expressing interest in utilizing Arbab Niaz and Hayatabad Stadiums for the purpose.

The PCB clarified that if the KP government provides these venues, they aim to conduct the first PSL match in Peshawar. The upcoming ninth edition of the PSL is scheduled to commence on February 17.

PCB management committee chairman Zaka Ashraf, in a press conference with PCB COO Salman Naseer, acknowledged the valuable experience gained by fringe players against Australia.

He conveyed gratitude to Cricket Australia for warmly welcoming the Pakistan cricket team and highlighted their assurance to provide training to Pakistan’s curators, contributing to pitch standards improvement.

Ashraf emphasized ongoing discussions with Cricket Australia on various matters, expressing a commitment to advancing together.

PCB COO Salman Naseer added thoughts on the scheduling challenges arising from the surge in franchise cricket, noting the intention for continued collaboration with Cricket Australia in organizing fixture schedules.
