PDM protesters break into Red Zone as sit-in plans take shape

In Islamabad, PDM protesters have entered the Red Zone while the police have opened the way to Serena Chowk.

Ongoing discussions with the JUI delegation are being held according to the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, and the sit-in location is yet to be finalized. Section 144 is currently in force in Islamabad.

Previously, PDM workers who had arrived in Islamabad to protest and sit in front of the Supreme Court of Pakistan attempted to enter the Red Zone but were stopped at Nadra Chowk. The workers were redirected by the Islamabad Police to enter the Red Zone from Margalla Road or Ayub Chowk.

The overall situation in the federal capital remains normal, with Margalla Chowk fully open and traffic flowing.

Regarding the Islamabad Dharna, convoys of PML-N, PP, and JUI have departed from different cities. D Chowk has been completely cordoned off by the Islamabad administration, and heavy FC and police forces have been deployed outside the Supreme Court.

PDM workers are arriving in Islamabad via buses from various cities, and security in Rawalpindi is on high alert in connection with the protest sit-in outside the Supreme Court. Heavy police forces are deployed on Murree Road from Sadar to Faizabad.

The PDM’s dharna is scheduled to take place in Islamabad today, with convoys of JUI, PML-N, and PPP heading towards Murree Road. The main convoy of JUI from Rawalpindi will depart from the Sadar area shortly, while People’s Party workers will gather outside Allama Iqbal Park to participate in the protest.

The district administration and police of Islamabad have expressed their concerns to Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah regarding the announcement of PDM’s protest meeting in front of the Supreme Court. They highlighted security concerns due to the large gathering of people outside the Supreme Court and the presence of important government buildings and embassies in the Red Zone.

Section 144 and Section 245 are currently in force in Islamabad. Police, FC, and Rangers personnel have been deployed in the Red Zone, and troops are already stationed outside important buildings under Section 245.
