PDMA warns Punjab temperatures could rise by up to 5 degrees until May 10

A severe heatwave is sweeping through Punjab, prompting the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to issue a warning. They expect day temperatures to rise by as much as 5 degrees Celsius until May 10.

The PDMA spokesperson says that areas with plains will experience the worst of the heatwave. He also mentions that dusty winds and some rain are likely across many districts in Punjab from May 10 to 12. Thunderstorms are expected in southern Punjab on May 10 and 11.

The PDMA head, Irfan Ali Kathia, advises people to stay safe during the heatwave. He suggests drinking plenty of water and avoiding too much exposure to the sun.

In Lahore, the Meteorological Department predicts rising temperatures. The heat is expected to reach 42 degrees Celsius by Thursday. With the temperature already at 32 degrees Celsius, the city is preparing for an intense heatwave over the next two days.
