Pervez Elahi ordered to house arrest by court

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a reserved judgment regarding the request of former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi to either be transferred to a hospital or to have his house declared as a sub-jail. The court has ordered his house arrest within 15 days. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir delivered the verdict on the request made by Pervez Elahi’s wife, Qaisara Elahi.

Additionally, the IHC has mandated that Pervez Elahi be granted medical facilities according to his preferences. Furthermore, the Ministry of Interior has been directed to finalize the procedure for his house arrest within the specified 15-day timeframe.

Previously, on May 2, the IHC had reserved its decision on the petition opposing Pervez Elahi’s transfer from Adiala Jail to Lahore. In the preceding hearing, the court had instructed the medical board at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital to reassess the health condition of the former Punjab Chief Minister.
