PM Kakar set to participate in ECO summit in Tashkent

The interim Prime Minister, Anwaarul Haq Kakar, is scheduled to depart for Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Wednesday to attend the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) summit, according to a statement from the Foreign Office (FO).

The FO announced that the two-day summit will take place from November 8-9. During the event, Kakar will reiterate Pakistan’s commitment to the ECO vision for 2025 and the promotion of regional cooperation in various sectors, including trade, transport, connectivity, energy, tourism, economic growth, and productivity.

Furthermore, the FO statement mentioned that the interim Prime Minister will present Pakistan’s vision for the organization’s future initiatives and the enhancement of regional connectivity and shared prosperity. He will also engage in one-on-one discussions with Uzbekistan’s leadership and other participating leaders.

The statement emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to the principles of connectivity and mutual prosperity within the ECO region, as it is a founding member of the organization. It is worth noting that earlier this year, in January, former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari attended the 26th ECO Council of Ministers meeting in Tashkent.
