PML-N moves PHC against special seat granted to JUI-F

In the Peshawar High Court, Pakistan Muslim League-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has lodged a petition challenging the Election Commission’s decision to allocate a minority seat to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam. The petition names the Election Commission, the Provincial Assembly Speaker, and JUIF member Gorpal Singh as respondents. It contends that the Election Commission’s issuance of a declaration in Gorpal Singh’s name for the minority seat on March 26 contradicts the allocation formula outlined in the Constitution and Election Act. The petitioner asserts that the Election Commission’s decision to allocate six instead of seven seats to PML-N is unconstitutional and illegal. The petition seeks nullification of the Election Commission’s declaration and a restraint on the Speaker from administering oath to Gorpal Singh pending a final court decision.
